In Memory of Scout Ethan M. Gilbert
December 19, 2003 - December 5 2017
Eathan M. Gilbert, age 13 of Le Sueur, died on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis as a result of sudden complications from cancer as a young child.
Southern Skies mourns the loss of this exceptional young man. His troop were his pallbearers and we're crying. He died suddenly and his quote he said before his passing was "The Boy Scouts of America have a slogan which is 'Be prepared'. There are many opinions on what that may mean, but for Christians it is more than a motto. We know that we are to be ready for our Lord's return but we are also to be ready for the day-to-day living and challenges that confront us."
Eathan was born on December 19, 2003 in Mankato, MN to his parents, Gary & Dianna (Reese) Gilbert. He was a student in the Le Sueur-Henderson School system and was currently a 7th Grader at Le Sueur-Henderson Middle School. Eathan was very active in his school community and his church community. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop #9328 in Le Sueur and especially enjoyed his time camping with his scouting friends. Eathan had a special care and love for all of his classmates, scouting friends and adults. His unique way of outreach to others will always be remembered.
